Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 12/15/2025 - Duration: 15 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN to work night shifts in a float pool setting, requiring a WA or compact license and advanced certifications. Responsibilities - Work in the Nursing Float Pool in a hospital setting, primarily supporting the ED holding area - Patient types include ICU, PCU, medical-surgical, oncology, ortho, palliative, rehab, and COVID overflow - Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, GI bleeds, DKA, sepsis, post-op, CVA, and general med/surg cases - Patient ratios are ICU 1:2, PCU/CCU 1:4, Med/Surg 1:5, and Rehab 1:8 using a team model - Exposure to advanced therapies including rotoprone and hypothermia protocol; may work with vents and trachs in rehab - Use of EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing - 12-hour night shifts with varied weekend requirements based on unit needs - Required to float to different units within scope of practice and may float for partial shifts - ACLS RN involved in transport may assist with ED holds at night when transports decrease - Provide advanced nursing care to diverse patient populations across multiple units as a float pool RN - Work closely with techs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7 - Hospital orientation of two days plus one day unit orientation; 4 hours additional orientation provided to other units when floating - Tele competency validation will be completed during orientation - No self-scheduling; must call staffing office each shift for unit assignment or check posted assignment - Schedules released three weeks at a time, with holiday coverage required as assigned - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Time off up to 5 days approved; must be willing to extend assignment for additional days off - Scrub requirements not specified Requirements - Active WA or compact RN license required - Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required for ICU assignments - Minimum of 2 years ICU experience required; PCU and acute care experience valued - Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, vent management, invasive line management, ostomy care, and general drain and trach care - Experience with telemetry competency is necessary - Must be skilled in effective communication and patient education - Ability to adapt to fast-paced units and mixed patient assignments Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-629725.
