Job Description & Requirements - Specialty: Med Surg - Discipline: RN - Start Date: 02/23/2026 - Duration: 13 weeks - 36 hours per week - Shift: 12 hours, nights - Employment Type: Travel Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit assignment in a float pool setting, requiring a WA or compact RN license and strong PCU experience. Responsibilities - Work in a hospital float pool covering units including PCU, ICU, Med-Surg, ED holding, and others as assigned - Primary assignment expected in the ED holding unit with mixed diagnosis patient population - Patient ratios: ICU 1:2, PCU/CCU 1:4, Med-Surg 1:5, Rehab 1:8 (team model) - Night shifts, 12 hours in duration - Frequent partial-shift floating throughout multiple units within scope of practice - Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing systems - Unit beds vary; PCU up to 40 beds, Med-Surg up to 89 beds - Patient types include respiratory failure, sepsis, CHF, COPD, renal failure, post-op, oncology, and COVID - Staff support includes techs, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists available 24/7 - Main responsibilities include patient assessment, IV medication titration, telemetry monitoring, and managing high-acuity cases as assigned - Team-based environment with tech and clinical support staff - Two days of hospital orientation and additional unit-specific orientation provided - First-time travelers are welcome to apply - Up to 5 days of time off may be approved, additional days by request and must be added to end of contract - No holiday requests or self-scheduling; schedule provided three weeks at a time - Scrubs or dress code details will be provided during orientation Requirements - Active WA or compact RN license required at start - Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required - Minimum 2 years of PCU experience required; ICU floating requires 2 years ICU experience - Acute care experience required for Med-Surg assignments - Competency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach and chest tube care, lumbar drains, and IV medication titration (including amiodarone, cardizem, nitro, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin, heparin, and occasionally cardene) - Ability to float and work in fast-paced, diverse patient care settings - Epic EMR experience strongly preferred - Telemetry competency validation required during orientation Benefits - High Pay and Bonuses - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options - 401(k) Plan - Weekly Payroll Deposit - Free Online CEUs - Generous Housing Allowance - Travel and Licensure Reimbursements - Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy - Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-664415.
