experience): $46.82 - $65.34 . Job Summary The Vascular/Diagnostic
Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of
sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results
of diagnostic examinations using sonography. The Diagnostic Medical
Sonographer is responsible for daily operations of the sonographic
department, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of
equipment failures, and quality assessment (QA). The sonographer
always maintains a high standard of medical ethics and is
self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of
the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Job Specific
Duties and Responsibilities * Coordinates program activities to
ensure consistent delivery of quality patient-centered care and
efficient operations in support of hospital goals and objectives. *
Leads the development, implementation, ongoing assessment and
improvement of Sonography programs, patient-care protocols,
standards of care, policies and procedures. Monitors outcomes:
identifies opportunities/gaps and initiates appropriate
enhancements and/or corrections. Disseminates new or revised
policies, procedures and initiatives. * Performs all requested
sonographic examinations as ordered by the attending physician.
Prepares preliminary reports and contacts referring physicians as
required. Coordinates with other staff as appropriate to ensure
patient care is provided. * Engages with both internal and external
partners to advance the SPMC mission and vision. Participates in
professional groups/associations. Participates in or leads SPMC
work groups, projects and committees as assigned. * Performs
special projects and other related duties as assigned. *Essential

Required Education Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical
Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission on
Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) is
required. Experience Three years of experience preferred.
Experience with routine, vascular, OB and breast ultrasonography
preferred Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations Active
certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical
Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate
preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Advanced working
knowledge of sonography practices. Demonstrated competence in
clinical skills; ability to perform, evaluate and teach required
sonography tasks. Advanced working knowledge of sonography
department operations and services. Ability to cultivate effective
partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health
care professionals, caregivers, patients and community members.
Strong leadership, facilitation, delegation, and coaching skills.
Proficient in the use of current technology, including Microsoft
Office products. Ability to learn and effectively use electronic
medical records and other systems and equipment. Professional and
effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to
identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the
audience. Ability to maintain accurate documentation and records in
a timely manner. Ability to work independently performing a wide
variety of assignments that require the use of independent
judgment, systems-thinking, problem-solving, organization, and
prioritization skills. Physical Requirements The position requires
lifting less than 10 pounds and lifting between 10–35 pounds on a
constant basis (more than 70% of the time). Lifting more than 35
pounds is required occasionally (approximately 10–30% of the time).
Carrying less than 10 pounds is performed frequently (about 30–70%
of the time). Carrying between 10–35 pounds occurs occasionally ,
while carrying more than 35 pounds is required seldom
(approximately 1–10% of the time). Pushing and pulling loads
between 0–35 pounds are required frequently . The role involves
sitting occasionally throughout the workday. Standing is required
