Description Customs Brokerage Entry Writer Job Type: Full-Time
(On-site) Location: Renton, WA Salary Range: $23.00 - $30.00 Hourly
Range Position Summary The Customs Brokerage Entry Writer is
responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while
ensuring full compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and related
agency requirements. This role manages end-to-end customs entry
process, builds strong internal and external relationships, and
supports key accounts through accurate documentation, clear
communication, and timely problem resolution. Job duties may be
adjusted based on operational or business needs. Key
Responsibilities Customs & Compliance Create and file customs
entries in accordance with U.S. Customs regulations. Perform ISF
filings for import shipments. Conduct pre-clearance reviews of
import documentation and work with suppliers, forwarders, and
brokers to ensure compliance. Maintain accurate and up-to-date
customer and shipment records. Ensure full compliance with all
applicable customs laws, government agency rules, and internal
procedures. Shipment Coordination Generate shipment files in the
EDI trade system. Track cargo through all stages of the shipment
lifecycle. Coordinate with trucking companies to schedule inbound
shipments. Ensure smooth, efficient, and timely freight movement
from start to finish. Work with freight forwarders, brokers, and
international transportation partners to support customer needs.
Customer Service & Communication Build and maintain strong
relationships with customers, vendors, government agencies, and
internal teams. Respond promptly to customer inquiries and follow
up to ensure issues are resolved. Meet or exceed customer service
standards through proactive communication and support. Quickly
troubleshoot and resolve shipment delays or service issues.
Collaborate with internal staff and overseas offices to ensure
consistent service excellence. Financial Responsibilities
Understand and accurately input financial components related to
shipments. Prepare billing details and ensure customers are
invoiced correctly. Additional Duties Perform other
responsibilities and special assignments as needed. Qualifications
Education & Industry Knowledge High school diploma (or equivalent)
required. Minimum 2 years of experience in Customs Brokerage
preferred. Experience in transportation or logistics is an asset.
Strong knowledge of government agency requirements and U.S. Customs
regulations. CHB license is preferred but not required depending on
experience. Technical Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office
(Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with TM systems is
an asset. Professional & Business Skills Strong commitment to
providing accurate, timely, and superior customer service.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong
problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a team
environment. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple
tasks simultaneously. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced
environment. Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Demonstrated teamwork, professionalism, and respect. Work Schedule
& Environment Full-time position, minimum 8 hours per day, with
flexibility to complete all job duties. Climate-controlled office
environment with moderate noise level. Physical Demands Regular
activities include walking, sitting, typing, handling documents,
reaching, talking, and hearing. Vision requirements include close,
distance, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and
decimals. Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents,
spreadsheets, emails and instructions. Ability to write routine
correspondence. Ability to speak clearly and effectively to both
internal and external contacts. Compensation & Benefits Salary
Range: $23.00 - $30.00 Hourly Range Starting pay is based on
multiple factors, including but not limited to education, work
experience, skills, and job-related knowledge. Pay ranges may be
modified in the future. Additional Compensation: Other compensation
includes, but is not limited to, bonuses, commissions, or stock
