ABOUT US:The Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD) is
a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive care
and support for individuals with congenital bleeding disorders. We
serve patients across the state of Washington and neighboring
states, offering specialized treatment, education, and
advocacy.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Genetic Counselor will provide
genetic counseling services to individuals and families affected by
congenital bleeding disorders. This role involves assessing genetic
risks, providing education and support, and collaborating with
healthcare providers to develop personalized care plans.KEY
RESPONSIBILITIES: -Conduct genetic risk assessments and provide
counseling to patients and families regarding congenital bleeding
disorders. -Explain complex genetic concepts and test results in a
clear and compassionate manner. -Develop and implement personalized
care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team. -Provide
emotional support and resources to patients and families, helping
them understand and cope with their genetic conditions. -Coordinate
genetic testing and interpret results, ensuring accurate and timely
communication with patients and healthcare providers. -Work closely
with our research collaborators conducting genomic studies on our
patients -Stay current with advancements in genetics and bleeding
disorders, incorporating new knowledge into patient care.
-Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to
the development of patient care protocols. -Educate healthcare
providers and the community about genetic counseling and bleeding
disorders through presentations and outreach activities. -Maintain
detailed and accurate patient records, ensuring confidentiality and
compliance with all regulatory requirements. -Other duties as
assignedQUALIFICATIONS: -Master's degree in Genetic Counseling from
an accredited program. -Board certified by the American Board of
Genetic Counseling or American Board of Medical Genetics OR Must
have Active Candidate Status for the ABGC Board Examination and
must successfully obtain ABGC Certification within two (2) ABGC
exam cycles or within three (3) years after start of employment.
-Washington State Licensure as a Genetic Counselor OR Provisional
Washington State Licensure as a Genetic Counselor. -Minimum of 2
years of experience in genetic counseling, preferably in a clinical
setting. -Knowledge of congenital bleeding disorders and related
genetic conditions is a plus -Excellent communication and
interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide compassionate
care and support. -Strong organizational skills and attention to
detail. -Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary
team. -Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying
current with advancements in the field.
