and hardworking team of specialists, you will provide technical
analysis leadership and key work products to the New Shepard team
on a diverse array of problems including loads and static and
dynamic analysis of primary and secondary structures as well as
ground systems. You will be the senior structural technical
authority responsible for the human flight certification of the New
Shepard launch vehicle and ground systems. You will also have the
opportunity to create and improve the analysis tools and methods to
be used on design increments of New Shepard as well as engage with
other analysis teams in defining system capability.Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:
- Solving complex and diverse structural analysis problems for
the New Shepard program for primary and secondary structures as
well as ground systems
- Interfacing with New Shepard technical leaders to implement
analysis methods, requirements, and policy that meet performance
and schedule requirements
- Supporting configuration development and trade studies
- Identification of opportunities for analysis efficiency,
safety, and operational cost improvements
- Mentoring designers and training structural analysts in
structural analysis best practices
- Maintain and report on activity schedule and technical statusWe
are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise,
leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact
safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is
required!Minimum Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. degree in engineering and at least 10+ years of
experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle
structures;
- High-judgement; ability to generate innovative solutions and
understand the balance between engineering judgment versus analysis
rigor and when each is appropriate.
- Demonstrated experience working on launch vehicles, aircraft,
or automotive in several of the following areas:
- Vehicle load path definition and strength analysis;
- Fatigue or damage tolerance and crack growth (hand calcs,
NASGRO, VCCT, etc);
- Dynamic analysis (coupled loads, random vibration, shock)
- Structural optimization using standard industry codes
(Optistruct, HyperSizer, Nastran Sol 200, etc)
- Stress analysis of metallic and/or composite structures
(skin-stringer, fittings, sandwich panels, etc);
- Familiarity with classical aerospace sizing methods (Bruhn,
Niu, Roark, etc).
- Demonstrated expertise with one or more of the following
analysis codes: Nastran, Ansys, Abaqus, LS-Dyna, Optistruct
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional
relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident (current Green
Card holder), lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee, or
granted asylumPreferred Qualifications:
- Experience with aerospace structural certification
- Experience writing structural requirements and program
standards
- Experience with vibroacoustics analysis and environmental
testingCompensation Range for:WA applicants is
