JOB DESCRIPTIONJob Title:Senior, Payroll SpecialistDepartment:
FinanceReports To: Director, PayrollStatus: ExemptPrimary
Objective: Responsiblefor ensuring efficient, compliant, and
accurate delivery of payroll services, processing, system
administration, and payroll tax administration. This role involves
strategic planning, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration
to enhance payroll operations and systems.This role is a local role
and requires at least 3 days a week on site in the office at
T-Mobile Park in Seattle, WA.Essential Functions:
- Collaborate with the Payroll Director to manage payroll
operations and systems, ensuring compliance with regulations and
operational efficiency.
- Strategically plan and oversee the timely and accurate
processing, delivery, and reconciliation of semi-monthly salaried
and hourly payroll and special payroll runs.
- Manage and process both Major League and Minor League payroll,
ensuring the accurate reporting of player moves and subsequent
payroll changes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant reporting standards,
including taxes, tax filings, garnishments, and interfaces with
third-party service providers (e.g., timekeeping, tax service, HR
systems).
- Build relationships and collaborate with employees and People &
Culture partners to facilitate a customer-centered approach to
provide payroll support and resolve issues.
- Resolve complex and escalated payroll issues with a strategic
approach.
- Collaborate with Accounting and Finance teams on allocations
and general ledger needs and discrepancies, including
reconciliation and periodic reporting requirements. Ensure proper
accruals and accounting are administered for known payroll
impacts.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase
efficiency and accuracy.
- Demonstrate extreme discretion in managing highly confidential
and sensitive information.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and resolve any
discrepancies or issues.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree required. Equivalent, relevant work
experience may be considered in lieu of formal education if
approved by management.
- A minimum of five (5) years' experience in Payroll and
Timekeeping at a midsize organization.
- Extensive experience with timekeeping and payroll systems
required. Proficiency with Workday Payroll required. Prior
experience with UKG preferred.
- Proficient with all Office applications with an emphasis on
Excel required.
- Membership in the American Payroll Association is a
plus.Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA's):
- Possess an understanding of theSystems Development
Lifecycle(SDLC) in waterfall and agile methodologies, as well as a
basic understanding of risk management related to systems
development.
- Strong analytical ability, natural curiosity, and

systems.

Mariners are committed to providing competitive pay, perks, and
benefits packages for our valued Team Members.The anticipated
starting pay for this role is between $85,000-$105,000. All perks
are subject to eligibility requirements and availability and may be
modified or amended from time to time.This information is being
